Violence in movies and films is often the source of people's irrational behaviors. In 2002, a series of sniper attacks was carried out in Washington D.C by a guy named Malvo, who was later discovered obsessed with the blurred reality and power in the film 'The Matrix'. While most adults understand that violence in movies are merely for the pleasure of watching them and should never be applied in reality, some fail to control their desire to act violently in certain situations and end up in jail. That being said, horror movies and thrillers would not be exciting to watch without some shedding of blood. Hence, it is vital for appropriate rules and regulations be applied to achieve balance between movies' thrill and inspired crime rate.

It is generally crucial for certain films to be introduced frequent or occasional gory or fighting scenes to excite audience. Some violent scenes are necessary to be included for explaining a story while others are there for audience to experience the thrill. Without some bloodshed or slaughter, 'It' and 'Saw' would just be too plain and tedious to watch. Hence, the effect violence in films creates can be irreplaceable.

However, despite its crucial role in films, violence sometimes are responsible for some individuals' misbehavior and it is therefore government's responsibility to keep content of film under control. While most people have the right judgement of violence in films, some, especially adults and teenagers of little self-control are inspired by violence in films and prone to commit crime as they fail to distinguish virtual world from reality. A New York teenager setting off a bomb in a Starbucks cafe in 2009 inspired by 'fight club' caused major disturbance. Furthermore, violence in movies make people more prone to using violence to resolve conflicts. Studies show that watching violent movies really does make some people more aggressive, especially people with abrasive personality. They become more hostile when triggered and could cause physical and mental damage to others. Hence, government should try to reinforce regulations and possibly censor certain inappropriate film contents.

The regulation on films should be monitored by government and maintain constantly an acceptable standard. Also, censorship can vary from countries to countries depending on how acceptable contents are to people and hence different regulations should be imposed. Any violation of these regulation should never be tolerated and any form of infringement should be treated accordingly.
