Weekends are the perfect period of time for regular people to take a break from stressful work during weekdays. However, it tends to be the busiest days for restaurants, especially here in Melbourne CBD. People desperately look for an enjoyable lunch or dinner with friends and families, and hopefully great service. Unlike none of these people, I too consider seeking a decent place for a meal of both good quality and price.
As I walked along Elizabeth street with a hungry stomach, my attention was grabbed really well by a conspicuous heading ‘Tokyo’ and some menus displaying traditional Japanese Cuisine including some of my favorites such as Udon, Bento, etc. I can't wait to give it a shot.

I was probably one of the earliest customers so there was not any hustle and bustle in there. The waitress dressed in Kimono greeted me courteously and guided me to a nice wooden table at the side. I was immediately provided with menu and a glass of water.
It only took me a few minutes to decide my choice of entree - Unagi Tempura Bento, as I had been craving Unagi tempura for a long time.
I was then immediately served with a bowl of warm soup with a mild taste of seaweed. It is nothing fancy but very much appetizing.
My main course was served a couple of minutes later with sauce. Everything was neatly compacted in individual compartment, exuding fascinating mixed fragrance of fried tempura, sushi and steamed rice.

I immediately took a bite out of the Unagi Tempura drizzled with sweet and sour sauce. It was crispy on the outside and creamy and tender on the inside. The aromatic flavor of tempura eel itself went so well along the sweet and sour sauce. I was hooked instantly. I then smear a touch of Wasabi onto my California Sushi roll and dipped it gently into soy sauce. Nothing too hard to chew in the middle. It was soft, tender and chewy all the way through. The little kick of wasabi combined with the sweetness of soy sauce was dancing in my mouse. It was delicious. Though the salad was a little bland, the whole dish was rather worth the AUD 14.80 I paid.
This was indeed a fun experience. I would recommend this restaurant to those who look for a Japanese Style Dinning experience in Melbourne and those who craved Japanese food back in their hometown.
